He explained: Of the 3 million hectares of Iranian gardens, 620 thousand hectares have been cultivated by pistachios, and from this amount, 300 to 350 thousand tons of pistachios are produced.

Referring to the amount of pistachio exports to the European Union compared to the export of this product to other countries, Boroumandi stated: “Nearly 140 thousand tons of pistachios are exported from the country, which is part of the share of the European Union.”

The Deputy Minister of Horticulture of the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad called pistachios the most valuable export product of Iran and said: “Export of this product has reached up to $۱۵ billion in currency in the country per year, and this year, despite the power outages of agricultural wells and suspension of production, pistachios have an acceptable figure.”

Boroumandi emphasized that the export of each product is a function of the agreed protocols of the parties, and in the export of pistachios to Europe, this rule has been followed, and all export products have received a health certificate from the Food and Drug Administration.

He added: In the first six months of 2014, ۲۲۶ the shipment of pistachios weighing five thousand tons with a health certificate of the Food and Drug Administration was issued to Europe, and only 26 cases have received a health warning from it.

Boroumandi said about the review of the warnings as soon as he received and emphasized: Of the ۲۶ registered warnings, seven were related to one of the neighboring countries and three related to the European Union stores, which have been registered to the Iranian account.

Boroumandi stated that the response of all of the above has been provided to the European Union through the webinar and correspondence of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Deputy Minister of Horticulture of Agriculture Jihad announced warnings about Iran’s export pistachios due to technical health differences between the two sides and said: “To resolve this dispute, we have announced our views to Europe through the Iranian ambassador in Brussels, and it is expected that the dispute will be resolved in the coming days.”

It is worth mentioning that in the export of pistachios, countries such as the United States and Turkey have received the same warnings, and part of the issues in the export of agricultural products are related to these cases, and the destination countries return the desired cargo to the country of origin for review and evaluation.

Iran’s pistachios are exported to ۲۰۰ countries of the world, which is exported to the European Union from 140 thousand tons of pistachio export products, 7 thousand and 500 tomans.
